About Alicia

I work as a PA/Office manager so sit a lot all day; I do not get many opportunities to exercise or be active at work. As a single parent, I can find it difficult to get time to myself in the evenings for exercise; going to the gym or something like that is out of the question.

My six-year-old son has benefited from my healthy eating; he loves fish and vegetables. This is good news for me because with a child in the house it can sometimes be difficult to avoid temptation and eat sweets and crisps!

Dieting History

I have tried Atkins, which I found hard to follow.
I also tried the Special K diet, which left me feeling very hungry all day long.

How being overweight has affected you…

I feel so much happier and better in myself now I can fit into my size 12 jeans!

Motivation to Diet

Summer Weddings! My best friend gets married in May and my cousin in July. I want to fit into new clothes for their weddings

I am going skiing in January 2009. I want to be able to fit into all my kit comfortably as it is expensive stuff to replace. I am so looking forward to going with 11 friends that I am determined to be fit and healthier this time.

How Weight Loss Resources Helps

WLR has put me in control of counting the calories in my diet. I can see what is ‘good’ in terms of calories and what is ‘bad.’

The Goals & Results section has kept me in control of where I am with my weight.

The Best of Weight Loss Resources

The food diary is indispensable in counting the calories!

I used the Favourites option in the Food Diary. It is really helpful for things that you have every day like coffee and tea and other snacks and soup for lunch. This saves you time searching.

I also check the Nutrition report now to see if I can use my calories and match the target profile.

Why do you think WLR has helped you lose weight where other diets have failed?

WLR is so very helpful and easy to follow.

Alicia's Calorie Counting Tips

Plan foods and check the calories before you eat it!

Lifestyle Changes

I feel so much healthier now. I am aware of what I am eating and I drink more fluids than I used to. I am so much more motivated to do exercise.

I walk a lot more now – to my parents’ house and with my son to school.

Foods that you eat now and didn't before or don't eat any more

I buy less ready meals and alcohol than I used to and buy a lot more fresh fruit and vegetables. I am aware of the calories now!

Typical Evening Meal

Before: Ready Meals!
Now: Salmon, potatoes and fresh veg  - homemade!

Any Major Changes

I have started to go out more and have a social life as I am more comfortable and confident within myself.
