On weighing herself one morning, Katie was shocked to discover she weighed 17½ stone. WLR has taught Katie about the calorie content of different foods which has resulted in her losing 6st.

Dieting History

Didn’t try any diets as such but I did join a gym for two months and cut down on the amount of food I ate. There was no change in my weight. I later found out (through WLR) that I wasn’t eating enough food so my body went into starvation mode.

Have you lost weight before and regained the weight?

Before a holiday I lost maybe a couple of pounds but put it all on and probably more on the holiday.

How being overweight has affected you…

I didn’t go out very much.

I hated going shopping for clothes as there wasn’t much choice of clothing (nothing fashionable)

I lacked confidence which made me unhappy so I then turned to food for comfort.

I felt people were staring at me and looked at me in disgust.

I really enjoy walking to work now and I have so much more confidence. I can go to ‘normal’ clothes shops now.

Motivation to Diet

I have always wanted to lose weight, but because when I tried to cut down on food I didn’t see any results, I didn’t bother.

I woke up one morning and weighed myself. I weighed 17.7 (I thought I was about 15 stone), I told my friends and everybody I worked with and thought I have to do something about it now everybody knows how fat I am.

I lost about 9lb in the first week so carried on.

Discovering Weight Loss Resources

I was searching for diets and calorie counters.

I tried the 3 day trial and joined up on the second day.

How Weight Loss Resources Helps

I had no idea of the amount of calories in different foods. Now I have the knowledge I think twice before I eat certain foods like burgers etc.

Once I saw a loss in the first week I was so determined to lose my weight.

I eat more regularly and always have breakfast. Before I skipped breakfast and would eat until the evening. I know now that’s not a good move.

I used to snack a lot but now I ask myself ‘Do I really want this/Is it worth the calories.’

The Best of Weight Loss Resources

I always fill in my food diary.

The advice and support on WLR Members Forum is great. Everybody is always willing to help and advise.

I look at the Food Ideas Message Board in Members Forum to see if there is anything new, or if anyone has tried any nice products.

Katie's Calorie Counting Tips

As I said I eat regular meals now. I eat healthy and enjoy my food.

Don’t give up and use the help and advice boards. We are all in the same boat. We all want to lose weight or have issues with our weight.

Allow yourself a treat now and again. Treat yourself in moderation & think how great and healthy you will be for losing the weight.
