depending on the plan that you opt for.
How does Bodychef compare to Weight Loss Resources?
From just £6.95 per month (23p per day!) you can use all of the tools and resources available from WLR. You’ll learn about portion control and how to change your eating habits for life. We’ll give you the freedom to make you own choices, lose weight and keep it off.
Why not take a free trial and see how you can lose weight and control your own meals.
How does the diet delivery work?
After deciding on a premade meal plan, you order for one of the time periods shown: either 3, 4, 5 or 7 days. You can opt for a longer period if you wish.
You then receive a food hamper to last 3-4 days depending on option chosen along with a guide on how to set up each meal. The diet foods are delivered in pre-packaged bags and ice packed boxes all weighed out to ensure the correct calories each day.
The diet meals will include things such as side salads, tubs of uncooked pasta and ready to microwave meats or curries that need to be cooked separately then combined to form your whole meal.
The theory is simple; to lose weight, simply eat what is allocated for each day.
What is my calorie quota for the diet foods delivered?
1200 - 1600 kcal per day depending on your starting weight, gender and the meal plan chosen.
There is a huge range of meals depending on which meal plan you opt for.
A typical menu for the delivered diet food (3 days)
Each meal plan has 16 different main meals which rotate on 4 menus each month. Users select which from the menu they would prefer.
| Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner | Desserts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grapefruit & Orange Salad with Yoghurt | Tuna & Sweetcorn Wraps with Coleslaw | Spicy Chicken with Pasta | Eton Mess |
| Cereal with Dried Fruit | Wholemeal Bread with Cheese Ham Cherry Tomatoes & Yoghurt | Turkey Loaf with Sweetcorn Potatoes & Cranberry Sauce | Fruit Fool |
| Grapefruit & Orange Salad with Wholemeal Bread & Jam | Pitta Bread with Egg & Salad | BBQ Chicken with Rice | Fruit Salad with Meringue Nest |
What support is offered whilst following the premade home meal plan?
Consultations are offered if needed at any time during your weight loss journey with Bodychef. The team can be contacted by phone or email. Calls are free from a land line, but if calling from a mobile, check your price plan.
We tested the email response time to check what qualifications the team hold, but after 48 hours still had no reponse.
Can I try before I buy?
No, unlike Weight Loss Resources, there is no free trial. Any questions can be answered via their telephone service.
Will Bodychef work for me?
Following a 1200 or 1600 kcal per day meal plan will certainly lead to weight loss but spending £17.98 per day it is not possible for many people.
Body Chef allows customers to make alterations to their menus as much as they like. They can accommodate for allergies to wheat, dairy and gluten if needed. So if you need this to be done for you Body Chef would be a good option for that.
Following one of the 3, 4, 5, or 7 day plans for their short time period might be a good idea to get the weight shifting temporarily and get your motivation moving but for long term healthy weight loss it just seems too expensive. The average time spent on a Bodychef plan is 5.8 weeks, according to their FAQ.
If you are short of time, then you may struggle with this plan as there is a certain amount of microwave cooking and ‘assembly’ involved. The Bodychef dinners are all ready prepared, but you would still have to cook the pre-weighed pasta and your pre-washed veggies before cooking your bolognese in the microwave!
The Bodychef provides three meals a day with the additional fresh fruit and snacks in between, depending on your calorie requirement. The plans also give you the amount of calories you require to achieve a healthy steady weight loss while retraining your eating habits. Therefore, as long as you eat everything that the Bodychef provides you for each day, it is ultimately your choice as to how you spread your food intake throughout the day.
You’ll need to buy approximately 3/4 pint of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk for teas, coffees and cereals. Alcohol is not recommended
How much weight could I lose?
Bodychef tells you to expect to lose 3-7lbs in the first week and up to a stone in a month.
Weight Loss Resources' View
Expensive diet delivery, portion controlled meal plans will certainly work to get the weight off, if followed exactly. But maintaining them for any lengthy period of time is extremely costly.
When we looked through the website, the exact details of the meal plans were not clear, so you will end up phoning them to clarify. There were also abbreviations that weren’t explained which was quite annoying, plus there are only so many times we can read the word ‘yummy’ without feeling slightly nauseous!
Learning to prepare and cook your own portion and calorie counted meals is the best way to ensure long term weight loss success. Ultimately you’ll learn the correct methods on how to maintain your weight once you get to goal.
