Slimming History

Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach.

Have you lost weight before and regained the weight?

Slimming with Weight Watchers in 1995 I lost 1 stone from 12st to 11st.

How being overweight has affected you…

Very low self-esteem at points during the last 10 years. Embarrassment at trying to fit into air seats etc. No life jacket to fit me on a canoeing trip! I never let it stop me doing things but I felt out of the dating etc at college.

Motivation to Get Slim

I got married in April 2004 and my best friend got married in July 2003 so I had early targets.

Now my sister is getting married in Sydney in December 04 so I have one final boost!

Discovering Weight Loss Resources

Browsing on Google I found WLR.

How Weight Loss Resources Helps

Support from the other members is great, especially the Runners Board as I have recently restarted running having been a good runner in my teens.

I love graphs etc to keep a record of my success.

The food and exercise diaries are very good to use and very revealing at times. The food diary give you a great idea of exactly what you are eating i.e. good versus bad. I have also enjoyed the discussion of Atkins, South Beach etc by Juliette Kellow, the Dietitian.

The Best of Weight Loss Resources

I think I use most of the site except the Chat Room although I do use the boards.

Ruth's Tips for Slimming

If you click on everything on the site you will keep finding bits you have not seen before! It was a few weeks before I found the recipes!

I don’t think the particular slimming diet you are following is too important although I seem to suit low carb. It is about deciding to do this once and for all and being happy with yourself as you are. You will find a diet that suits you and WLR can help you immensely if you include everything you eat into your diary. Awareness of what you are doing (those extra nibbles you can choose to ignore and what your food contains) can help insight and give you the challenges to beat.

The support is great and every pound off counts!!
